Founder's Story
W.I.N. — Widows and Widowers Impact Network — is more than a nonprofit.
It’s a movement born out of faith, love, and the unwavering strength of a woman who, in the midst of profound loss, was called to serve. Tonika Winchester shared nearly 28 years with her husband, John Winchester — 22 of those as a married couple. Their journey together was built on a foundation of love, faith, and shared dreams. They were not only husband and wife but best friends, partners in life, and parents to a beautiful blended family: John’s son and their five children. Together, they raised a family filled with love, laughter, and faith, anchored in the belief that family is built through love, not just blood.
When John was called home to be with the Lord, Tonika’s world was shattered. The love of her life, her best friend, and the father of their children was gone. But even in the depths of her grief, Tonika found clarity in her faith. In that sacred space of prayer and reflection, God revealed a mission — to create something that would honor John’s legacy, transform her pain, and lift up other widowed individuals who were walking a similar path.
And so, W.I.N. was born — out of obedience to God’s calling and a desire to give other widows and widowers the strength and resources they need to heal, rebuild, and reclaim their lives.
W.I.N. is not just a resource; it’s a lifeline, a beacon of hope, and a powerful reminder that while love may be lost, it is never forgotten. The official launch of W.I.N. on May 4, 2025, a date chosen with love and purpose, a date chosen for the memory & the start of a movement. This date chosen to honor John's birthday--his life, his love for his wife and children, and his legacy.
